The Moroccan international Amine Adli recently confided in the death of his mother, in a moving interview granted at times Foot. Just before the African Cup of Nations (CAN 2023), held in January 2024, the player was called in the national team of Morocco. In time, he was devastated by the death of his mother.
In the interview, Amine Adli describes difficult days. After a successful season with Bayer Leverkusen, he had decided to spend the holidays with his mother in Dubai. “It was our first stay there, everything went well,” he said.
But shortly after the return, the player’s sister informed the latter that their mother did not feel well, requiring hospitalization. Amine Adli went to her bedside, in France. “I was told that she was fine. My mother constantly said to me: ‘Go ahead, Amine, will play.’ I said I wouldn’t leave, but she insisted. ”

Adli joined the preparations with the national team, but a day later, her sister recalled, telling him to come back. He is authorized by the coach Walid Regragui. In a few days, her mother’s condition worsened, then died.
The player said that the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) had helped him make his mother’s last wish: being buried in Meknès. “The national team and the whole federation really supported me. They quickly organized repatriation in Morocco, helped in administrative procedures. They took care of everything, ”he said.
In the middle of his sorrow, Adli made a choice: “I felt that I had to go there for my country. After all that the team did for me, I had to be present. ”
Adli also expressed the great support of Moroccan fans. Looking towards the future, his goal is now to “have a big impact for the national team” and make supporters proud.
