The first trophy for the career of the Moroccan international Soufiane Boufal now has the colors of the Saint-Gilloise Union. The training won the Belgian championship on Sunday by beating the Gantoise (3-1), at the Joseph Marien stadium in Brussels. A success which confirms the return in force of the Atlas Lion to Europe, after its passage by Al-Rayyan. Under contract until June 2026 with the USG, the semi-finalist of the 2022 World Cup made 25 appearances on the lawn. It will have totaled 1040 minutes of play and distributed 4 assists.

This consecration constitutes a historical recovery for the USG, which has not won the title for 90 years, or 1935. With nine victories over the last ten games, the club was able to ward off the defeats by standing out early during the tournament, this season. During an epic final, Franjo Ivanovic opened the scoring in the 11th minute of play for the locals, before being caught by Gudjohnsen (45 ′). In the second half, the USG marked its double thanks to Promise David (68 ′, 75 ′).

On the throne of the championship, the USG is ahead of Club Bruges, neutralized by the Royal Antwerp (1-1).
