The prosecutor general of the king near the Tangier court of appeal announced this Wednesday that the investigation into the fire of the Houara forest in the commune of Gueznaia had allowed the arrest of an individual in the vicinity. The latter was “in possession of a bag whose excavation allowed the seizure of ten lighters, a cannabis pipe and a small knife”.
The flames having ravaged vast areas alerted the prosecution, which gave its instructions to the royal gendarmerie for the urgent opening of an investigation. Once identified and intepepelled, the suspect was placed in police custody, to clarify the circumstances of the facts.
The respondent was referred on Wednesday before the prosecution and after his interrogation, it was decided to or orrir an investigation for alleged involvement in the voluntary trigger for forest fires, drug use and illegal weapons.
The investigating judge ordered the suspect’s incarceration in local Tangier 2 prison, the same source said. The prosecution will inform public opinion of the results of the survey once completed, as part of the communication and the proper application of the law, concludes the press release.
