Moroccan Sahara: Kenya affirms its position

Kenya told Rabat on Monday in Rabat on Monday on the conflict around the Moroccan Sahara. Nairobi considers the Moroccan autonomy plan as “The only sustainable approach to solving the question of the Sahara and welcomes the growing international consensus and the dynamics led by SM the king in favor of this plan”.

This position was expressed in a joint press release published on Monday in Rabat, after a meeting between the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans living abroad, Nasser Bourita, and the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Diaspora of the Republic of Kenya, Musalia Mudavadi.

In this joint press release, Kenya “considers the autonomy plan as the only sustainable approach to the resolution of the Sahara question and intends to cooperate with states with the same vision to promote its implementation”. In this context, “The Republic of Kenya welcomes the growing international consensus and the dynamics led by SM King Mohammed VI in favor of the autonomy plan presented by the Kingdom of Morocco as the only credible and realistic solution to resolve the dispute over the Sahara”continues the press release.

The two senior officials insisted on “the exclusivity of the United Nations in the political process and reaffirmed their support for the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council, in particular resolution 2756 (2024)”.
