The extractive sector continues its positive development in the first quarter of 2025 with a consolidation of the production of rock phosphate, an important component of the sector, of 11.9%, after the notable firming that he knew last year (+32.1%). The production of phosphate derivatives was also appreciated, with growth of 8.1%, after a significant increase of 32.2% a year earlier, said DEPF in its new conjuncture note.
In terms of phosphate and derivative exports, after a decrease, in value, of 10.7% in the first month of 2025, a significant rebound was recorded in the last two months of the first quarter of 2025 (+35%), following the firmness of the expeditions of phosphate derivatives of 25.7% and those of crude phosphate of 182.5%, highlights DPF.
In the first quarter, the OCP group recorded an increase in export increases+18.2%, instead of a drop of 4.8%a year earlier, due to the increase in exports of phosphate derivatives (+15.3%) and rock phosphate (+52.8%).
Regarding sales abroad of other mining extractions, they increased by 20.2% in the first quarter of 2025, against a withdrawal of 22% a year earlier, pulled more particularly by baryum sulfate exports (+46.4%).
