NBA Africa and UM6P launch a unique initiative to promote basketball among young Moroccans

NBA Africa and the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P), through its subsidiary EVOSPORT, announced a collaboration aimed at developing the practice of basketball among young people in Morocco. This initiative provides for the creation of the first NBA basketball school in the country as well as the launch of four Jr. NBA leagues, constituting the largest youth basketball development program ever deployed by the League in Morocco.

The Jr. NBA leagues, intended for around 2,000 young people under the age of 18, will be located in the towns of Khouribga, Gantour, Laâyoune and El Jadida. At the same time, more than 200 coaches will benefit from specialized training programs. The implementation of this project will be ensured by EVOSPORT, in partnership with Act4Community, an entity of the OCP Group, thus strengthening the Moroccan and African sports ecosystem.

The signing ceremony of this agreement was held in Paris, at the European headquarters of the UM6P, in the presence of Hicham El Habti, president of the UM6P, Mark Tatum, deputy commissioner of the NBA, Clare Akamanzi, general director of NBA Africa, and Amadou Gallo Fall, president of the Basketball Africa League (BAL).

This project marks a continuation of the initiatives led by NBA Africa and the OCP Group, which have already launched Jr. NBA leagues in other Moroccan cities. To date, more than 100,000 youth and coaches have benefited from basketball development programs through these joint efforts.

Mohammed VI Polytechnic University, a key player in the OCP Group ecosystem, places innovation and human development at the heart of its mission. Through its subsidiary EVOSPORT, it strives to build a sustainable sports ecosystem, in line with the national vision aimed at positioning Morocco as a regional and global sports hub.

The OCP Group, through its Act4Community initiative, is also part of this dynamic by supporting innovative citizen projects, putting sport, culture and entrepreneurship at the service of the development of local communities.
