A lawyer compensated after being filmed in a gym without consent

The court of first instance of Salé recently decided to grant a lawyer of the Rabat bar a compensation of 1,000 dirhams, following a complaint which he filed against the owner of a gym of the city, after photos and videos of him training in the room were published without his consent.

The details of the case reveal that the lawyer was surprised to discover this content on the Instagram page of the room, which pushed him to initiate legal proceedings. The defense said that the customer had a subscription contract with the gym, and that the latter had failed in his obligations by publishing the content without his approval, which constitutes a violation of privacy.

Despite the judgment in his favor, the lawyer appealed and expressed his dissatisfaction with the amount of the compensation, especially since he spent more than 5,000 dirhams in the case fees, according to Assabah. The newspaper noted that the complainant had initially requested compensation of 10,000 dirhams.
