The city of Ifrane, classified as one of the most beautiful natural destinations in Morocco, on Wednesday morning, 24 September, hosted the works of the first international conference for environmental tourism and sustainable investment, with the participation of ministers, government, and regional officials, national and international experts and actors in the tourism and environmental field, and this demonstration has formed an important station to exchange visions on ways to develop a responsible tourist model that respects the environment and serves economic and social développement.
In this regard, Nizar Baraka, Minister of Equipment and Water, stressed in his opening speech that the choice of the city of Ifrane to embrace the conference was not arbitrary, but rather based on its unique natural qualifications that abound in and distinguish it from the rest of the Moroccan cities, as well as embodies the spirit of sustainable environmental tourism, explaining that the World Tourism Organization defines this tourism pattern as tourism that takes into account the economic, social and Dimensions environnementales, l’équilibre entre répondre aux besoins des touristes et maintenir les ressources naturelles en faveur des générations futures.
Baraka also highlighted that tourism is a horizontal sector interfering with several fields, and it can only succeed through gathering through public and private partnerships, whether in the field of financing or exchanging experiences, noting that the success of projects such as the National Park Development Program for Frames with a budget of approximately 734 million dirhams, the greatest evidence of the importance of coordination between the various levels of governance, as he announced in this regard the launch d’études pour le barrage « Firas Water » qui contribuera à soutenir les ressources en eau, l’arrosage et la promotion du développement local à l’horizon de 2027.
